WW1 Simplified Glengarry dated 1915

£175.00
A scarce example of the simplified dark blue with red tourrie glengarry. Introduced in late 1914 as model 8160/1914 this type had a cotton band and was worn by The Royal Highlanders, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, Cameron Highlanders, Seaforths, Gordons, Royal Scots, Royal Scots Fusiliers and KOSB. This type never really replaced the diced glengarries with calfskin band. All examples I have encountered(including those in my own collection) have diamond shaped or circular paper labels. This example is dated 1915. The tails are absent.
